Legacy Gifts
- The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley Foundation is a separate 501(c)(3) corporation whose sole member is The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley
- The foundation accepts and administers legacy and planned gifts as well as the school's reserve funds. The use of such funds is determined by the donor in the language used to convey the gift
- A copy of our complete Gift Acceptance Policy may be attained by contacting the Development Office
Examples
- Unrestricted - at the discretion of the school's Board of Trustees. General practice: 20% of gift to operating budget, 80% held in reserve fund
- Special Use - designated for capital improvements, fine arts programs, financial aid scholarships, etc.
- Endowment - funds sequestered as required by state law. The corpus (original gift) is left intact and the income generated by the gift is conveyed to the school annually or quarterly
