LSMV ANNUAL MEETING
Every year The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley holds an annual meeting as part of its official duties as a non-profit incorporation. At this meeting reports of the year are given and board Trustees are confirmed for the next year. This year's meeting will be Thursday May 15th at the St. Paul's campus in the third floor assembly area. At the meeting, the Strategic Planning Committee will give a presentation of its recommendations for LSMV's future. In the face of the need to cut back, the board commissioned a committee to study the problems the school faced, the mission of the school, and the values of the supporting community and then form a five year vision and plan to keep the school moving forward. Everyone is invited to come to the annual meeting and hear the vision committee presentation. After the meeting the Board of Trustees will vote on approving the plan in part or in whole to match the vision which has already been approved by the board. Lutheran Churches who are not currently represented on the board, but wish to be involved in this twenty year downtown ministry, are encouraged to attend and consider becoming a corporate board church with voting rights for school decisions. The vision statement is as follows:

The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley 2013 A Vision Narrative
The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley is an early learning childhood and elementary school with grades Pre-K through 5th grade in downtown Dayton that educates students in the Christian faith and basic, classical academics. The Lutheran School of the Miami Valley has a strong commitment to participation by corporate congregations and their respective Board representatives, parents, and the community at large, providing a framework which allows the school each year to be financially self-sustaining and forward thinking.
We proudly continue our rich heritage of sharing our abundance with the Dayton community, especially its children, and being a high-quality feeder school, strongly preparing students (academically and value-wise) for other schools. |
Big News!
Teacher Appreciation Week
May 5-9
The School is not a building; the school is the people who teach and guide the students. LSMV expresses appreciation for the wonderful people who make up our school. |
May is Manna Month
For three months now, we have been talking about the money the government is sending out to taxpayers to stimulate the economy. This is the month the checks will start coming. While churches are beginning to have their own drives for the tithe of these checks, The Lutheran School reminds you that Jesus taught us Òman does not live by bread aloneÓ and supporting the work of religious teaching is giving to our children and the children of our community those words of God that sustain life on a higher level than food. Please give a free-will offering to sustain the work of Lutheran School of the Miami Valley, by donating to the Foundation Fund. Checks should be mailed to LSMV P.O. Box 68 , Dayton, Ohio 45401, and written to: LSMV Foundation Fund . |
Thank you Good Neighbor Program participants!
We recently received a check for $164.64 from Dorothy Lane Market for our participation in their Good Neighbor Program, which donates rebate dollars to charities from enrolled shoppers who make annual purchases of more than $250 in their Dayton area stores. We had 16 enrolled households, of which 14 met the minimum spending requirements in 2007. Will you consider enrolling in this worthwhile program, and donate while you shop? Call 224-8879 for more information.

Over the Rainbow to the Pot of Gold On February 13th the President signed an economic incentive package that is going to give tax rebates to most Americans, putting extra money into the hands of almost everyone affiliated with LSMV. To get the rebate you must file 2007 taxes. If your income is normally Social Security and Veteran's Disability that does not require IRS filing, you may want to talk to a tax professional and consider filing this year if you qualify for the rebate. And then, would you please remember LSMV when you get your extra money? Part of the reason the school has to eliminate some grades is that the investment fund has sharply decreased. The school board has approved a donation drive from rebate money for the sole purpose of refurbishing the investment fund. Watch this space next month for details on how to contribute to the fund. |
